All Network Cabling Services, Inc. has recently given us our first Custom Web Site Design job, there client from Landstuhl Germany was looking for a nice classic web page design for there barber shop business. The Black and White Barber Shop is an upscale barbershop that caters mostly to clients living on or near the US Military Base in Landstuhl Germany.
Our client All Network Cabling Services, Inc. required us to use some nice web design techniques that would be appealing to there client, yet be search engine friendly. The client required us to stay with there original logo, using bold colors on each web page design. The client also wanted a barber pole that was animated, and so we had to implement some Flash Web Design, as a rule we try to discourage clients from using any flash on a web page, although it looks very nice, its just not search engine friendly, the robots cannot read it. But with a small amount of flash required here we did feel it was workable, again not recommended for SEO Design, use an animated (.gif) if the client will agree.
We added a Barber Shop Pictures Gallery using a java script that would allow us to use multiple small images on one side of the web page and a larger image on the other side. If you have a small photo gallery, maybe no more than 40 images then this is a nice script to use, (notice the nice transition between photos).
The client also wanted a map on the website that would indicate there exact location in Landstuhl Germany, since many US Military Base personel are new to the area and not familiar with the area. We decided to go with the Goolge Map, it's really a nice map, easy to install, just copy and paste the script, and it's filled with very useable features and it can be printed out, if you need to us a map on your web page, this one from Google is highly recommmended.
One of the last website design and development features we installed was the language translation script, again we go this from Google. BabelFish by Altavista also offers a nice script, but they frown on you altering it's appearance so we opted for Google.
